Cantus FIRMUS

Cantus Firmus was originally formed with singers from the Chapel Royal. They have appeared with Monica Huggett and Sonnerie on numerous occasions including concerts in King’s College Cambridge and Christ Church Oxford.


Cantus made their Wigmore Hall debut singing Bach Cantatas with Sonnerie, Thomas Guthrie and Rachel Elliot. Collaborations continued with Sonnerie resulting in performances in Exeter College Oxford and the Wigmore Hall of Purcell’s ‘The Fairy Queen’ with soloists Geraldine McGreevy and Julia Gooding.


Cantus Firmus Consort & Players performed ‘Dido & Aeneas’ at the Utrecht Early Music Festival (UEMF) with Anna Stéphany singing Dido/Sorceress. Subsequently Cantus performed a concert of English Madrigals for UEMF which was broadcast on Dutch radio station “Ze Concertzender”. Cantus’s performance of Biber’s F minor Requiem at the UEMF was enthusiastically received and highly acclaimed.


They have performed concerts for H.R.H the Princess Royal, and toured the east coast of the USA , Holland and Turkey.
